Alicia: Hello everybody, thank you for joining us today, I hope everyone out there is staying safe and healthy. Here we have Gil Vidals, the CEO of HIPAA Vault, which is an MSSP specializing in HIPAA compliant cloud services. So Gil, how do you like working from home?

Gil: Well, I’m going to turn the tables and instead of answering that question I’m going to ask you, what do you think about working from home?

Alicia: I don’t mind it, I actually like it, I can take my lunch break from my bed and as soon as I’m off I don’t have to spend time driving.

Gil: Well, you know, it’s pretty obvious Alicia and I are related. I’m her dad, she’s my daughter, and when she’s late to work, occasionally, she’ll say to me, Dad, I’m fighting the traffic, I’m sorry I’m late, and then the first day she’s working from home she was running a little late, I go, why are you late? She said “I was fighting the traffic”.

Alicia: There was a lot of traffic in the hallway.

Gil: Well working from home is hard, it’s hard because we’re all glued to the news or we’re talking to each other about this situation, should we go to the grocery store, should we go to the gym or to church, I guess the gyms are closed now, everything’s closing up, but there’s a lot of talking and a lot of bantering and it’s easy to get distracted I think.

Alicia: Yeah and this has been pushed until the end of April so we gotta make it until then and hopefully we’ll all go back to normal after that.

Gil: Are you able to work at home as effectively as you could if you were in the office?

Alicia: Yeah

Gil: Because you’re pretty disciplined.

Alicia: Yeah and I have a lot of monitors set up.

Gil: Yeah, she has a lot of monitors but I have a feeling a lot of people are going to be by the refrigerator.

Alicia: I take a lot of snack breaks.

Gil: Yeah a lot of snack breaks, but our message to you, our HIPAA Vault listeners and clients, is that keep at it, I think the bottom line is this, the one takeaway is: keep your routine. In other words, don’t change your whole life because of this. If you normally went to the gym and worked out, go outside and do some calisthenics, you can do push ups, you can hang from a wall and do some pull ups

Alicia: Go on runs.

Gil: go on runs, keep doing the things you used to do. Don’t just sit there and go oh woe is me. Let’s keep our routine, let’s keep working, getting up, taking a shower, some people aren’t changing their clothes anymore you know, they have the same clothes on for 3 days in a row, we should get up, get ready, you know, and that’ll help us maintain a positive and good attitude, that’s my opinion.

Alicia: Yeah, that was good advice, yeah thank you guys, we’re still there for you if you have any questions!
