Alicia: Hello everybody, thank you for joining us again today, my name is Alicia Kay and here we have Gil Vidals, the CEO of HIPAA Vault, which is an MSSP specializing in HIPAA compliant cloud services. So someone asked me something very important. They asked why they should host with a specialist, such as HIPAA Vault, instead of hosting in the public cloud, such as Amazon or Google. What is your opinion on this question?

Gil: Wow, that’s a fantastic question. There’s a lot of details here, but I just want to start off with a simple analogy so people understand. Let’s suppose you bought a house and you’re excited to move in. But once you move in, you realize “Who’s going to take care of my lawn, who’s going to mow my lawn? Who’s going to clean my pool? Who’s going to do the insecticide around it?”. All these services you need, so clients that have medical data have to be very careful to make sure they do all the things necessary to meet federal regulations. Most of the healthcare providers, or healthcare app developers, don’t have the knowledge or the time to do all that work.

Alicia: Uh huh, so basically hosting with a specialist, we’re a managed service provider, so we would do all that “moving” and stuff, right?

Gil: Yeah, well the moving would be like migrating right, migrating over, and then the work begins to do the monthly patching, vulnerability scans, remediation, all of that work needs to be done, and most of the clients they don’t really have the time or the knowledge to focus on that.

Alicia: And that’s the benefit of going with a specialist, they do it all?

Gil: Right, and they could do it themselves, but they’d have to hire a specialist to do that anyway, in house, or learn how to do it themselves and spend a lot of time on that.

Alicia: Okay, awesome, that makes a lot of sense, thank you so much!

Gil: You’re welcome, thank you.
